ok so its christmas eve and instead of wrapping presents im wrestling with css specificity and wordpress caching. you know the drill.
Problem
two battles today, same lesson.
battle 1: the website
wanted to give the streaming and community pages the same beautiful dark theme as the blog. card layouts, gradient text, glassmorphism badges, hover animations. simple right?
nope.
- css wouldnt load
- templates werent mapping correctly
- cache was serving old versions even after deploying new code
- refreshed 50 times. same broken styling.
the community page specifically refused to update. i could see the new template with ?v=force123 but the regular url showed the generic garbage.
battle 2: the market
down $300 today.
and honestly? i already know why. same pattern every time:
- didnt follow my own rules
- got stubborn instead of cutting
- looked at the same 3 stocks instead of expanding the watchlist
- lacked discipline
Fix
for the website:
stopped trying the same thing expecting different results. stepped back. realized the issue wasnt the css, it was the caching layer.
built a tool to nuke everything:
python tools/clear_digitaldreamscape_cache.py
cleared wordpress cache, flushed rewrite rules, deleted transients, purged litespeed. one command. done.
also added fallback css imports directly in style.css:
@import url("assets/css/beautiful-blog.css");
@import url("assets/css/beautiful-streaming.css");
@import url("assets/css/beautiful-community.css");
for the trading:
the fix is simple. i just dont do it.
- follow the rules i already set
- expand the watchlist
- cut losses when the setup breaks
- stop being stubborn
i know this. i just didnt execute. thats the real problem.
Steps
website fixes deployed today:
- created beautiful templates for streaming + community pages
- added @imports for guaranteed css loading
- built cache-clearing tool
- verified all pages load correctly without cache-bust params
- committed and pushed
templates now live:
| Page | Template | Status |
|---|---|---|
/ |
front-page.php | ✅ |
/blog/ |
page-blog-beautiful.php | ✅ |
/streaming/ |
page-streaming-beautiful.php | ✅ |
/community/ |
page-community-beautiful.php | ✅ |
trading action items for next session:
- add 10 new stocks to watchlist
- review my rules before market open
- set hard stop losses
- no revenge trading
Reflections
both problems today came from the same place: stubbornness.
with the website, i kept refreshing expecting different results instead of actually diagnosing the caching issue.
with trading, i kept holding losing positions expecting them to reverse instead of following my own rules.
the solution in both cases: step back, assess, execute properly.
im only down $300. thats recoverable. my confidence is fine. i just need to actually do what i already know works.
tomorrow is christmas. taking the day off from trading. website work continues.
